The Wisconsin Fire and Police Hall of Fame is an important part of the historic Old Firehouse and Police Museum in Superior. Old Firehouse Station No 4 was built in 1898 after the first wooden station was destroyed by fire two years earlier. Five horse drawn engines and the horses were originally housed on the first floor with living quarters upstairs.
The historic station was preserved as a museum in October 1982. It became a Hall of Fame for Wisconsin firefighters and police in 1998, and now contains a 1906 horse drawn steam pumper, a 1919 American LaFrance ladder truck, and 1944 Mack fire truck and a display of fire-fighting equipment and fire retardant clothing. A brass fire pole is the focal point which leads from the sleeping quarters on the second floor. Side rooms are devoted to police memorabilia and a small jail cell. This is the last remaining fire houses of its time.
