I found it always puzzling to find something of a non-secular theme attached or associated with a government building or institution, but such is the case here at the NRHP Adams County Courthouse. The Ten Commandments tablets, along with a host of other bronze markers and tablets, can be found on the right side of the courthouse, high up on the wall to the right of the central entrance. The tablet was placed/sponsored/erected by the Sunday Schools of Adams County. This information is at the bottom right of the connected tablets. Using other similar markers and tablets as a reference, I would estimate this marker was placed in the 1940s. The color and wear matches up with other similarly dated markers. The tablets read:

(left side)
I am the
Lord Thy God

I
Thou Shalt Have
No Other Gods
Before Me
II
Thou Shalt Not
Make to Thyself
Any Graven Image
III
Thou Shalt Not
Take the Name
Of Thy Lord Thy
God in Vain
IV
Remember The
Sabbath Day To
Keep It Holy

(right side)

I Am The
Lord Thy God

V
Honor Thy Father
And Thy Mother
VI
Thou Shalt Do
No Murder
VII
Thou Shalt Not
Commit Adultery
VIII
Thou Shalt Not
Steal
IX
Thou Shalt Not
Bear False
Witness Against
Thy Neighbor
X
Thou Shalt Not
Covet

Erected By
The Sunday Schools
Of Adams County
