Ce marqueur historique, situé à côté du terrain de jeu à l'ouest de la place des Etats-Unis, est un don des Etats-Unis, qui commémore la dédicace de la statue de la Liberté à New York Harbor. La plaque se lit comme suit:

"La Statue de la Liberté (Liberté éclairant le monde; français: La Liberté éclairant le monde) est une sculpture colossale néoclassique sur Liberty Island à New York Harbor, conçu par Frédéric Bartholdi et dédié le 28 Octobre 1886. La statue, un cadeau aux États-Unis au peuple de France, est un personnage en robe féminine représentant Libertas, la déesse romaine de la liberté, qui porte un flambeau et une tabula ansata (un comprimé évoquant la loi) sur lequel est inscrit le jour de la Déclaration d'Indépendance américaine, Juillet 4, 1776. Une chaîne brisée se trouve à ses pieds. La statue est un symbole de la liberté et des États-Unis: un signal accueillant pour les immigrants qui arrivent de l'étranger." (

Il se compose d'une place, à environ 140 mètres de long et trente mètres de large, bordée d'arbres, bien aménagé et délimité par les rues, formant un cadre agréable et ombragé vest-pocket parc. "The Statue of Liberty (Liberty Enlightening the World; French: La Liberté éclairant le monde) is a colossal neoclassical sculpture on Liberty Island in New York Harbor, designed by Frédéric Bartholdi and dedicated on October 28, 1886. The statue, a gift to the United States from the people of France, is of a robed female figure representing Libertas, the Roman goddess of freedom, who bears a torch and a tabula ansata (a tablet evoking the law) upon which is inscribed the date of the American Declaration of Independence, July 4, 1776. A broken chain lies at her feet. The statue is an icon of freedom and of the United States: a welcoming signal to immigrants arriving from abroad." (

It consists of a plaza, approximately 140 metres long and thirty metres wide, tree-lined, well-landscaped, and circumscribed by streets, forming a pleasant and shady vest-pocket park. The park is officially named Square Thomas Jefferson, but buildings facing it (on three sides) have Place-des-États-Unis addresses. The eastern end of the square, however, is capped by the Avenue d'Iéna and a confluence of streets known as the Place de l'Amiral de Grasse." (
