Asa Turner was one of the very first Baptist Ministers to settle in the Eastern Ontario region in the latter part of the 18th century.

He had relocated from the US to this area to spread the works of the Baptist faith. Over the course of 13 years, ending with his return to the US in 1811, he worked tirelessy to attract and maintain new followers. When he did return to the US, his efforts ensured that the Bapist Ministry was well-established in Eastern Ontario.
