EN: The Stadtcasino Basel is a concert building with three halls on Barfüsserplatz in the city center. It was opened in 1826.
The largest of the halls, the Musiksaal, is listed as a heritage building of national significance. It was built in 1876 by the architect Johann Jakob Stehlin and holds around 1500 seats. The hall is internationally renowned for its acoustics. It is mainly used for large concerts of classical music, many world premieres (including Béla Bartók, Honegger, Martinu, Rudolf Kelterborn and Krzysztof Penderecki) took place here and the Basel Symphony Orchestra has performed many recordings in the Musiksaal.
DE: Das Stadtcasino Basel ist ein Konzerthaus mit drei Sälen am Barfüsserplatz im Zentrum der Stadt. Es wurde 1826 eröffnet.
Der grösste der Säle, der Musiksaal, steht als Kulturgut von nationaler Bedeutung unter Denkmalschutz. Er wurde 1876 vom Architekten Johann Jakob Stehlin gebaut und fasst rund 1500 Plätze. Der Saal wird international wegen seiner Raumakustik geschätzt. Er wird vorwiegend für grosse klassische Konzerte genutzt, viele Uraufführungen (unter anderem von Béla Bartók, Arthur Honegger, Bohuslav Martinu, Rudolf Kelterborn und Krzysztof Penderecki) haben hier stattgefunden und das Sinfonieorchester Basel hat zahlreiche Tonaufnahmen im Musiksaal durchgeführt.
