The Tutoko Suspension Bridge was built in 1940 over the Tutoko River for the highway to Milford Sound. The bridge was replaced in 1981 by the adjacent new highway bridge to handle the increased traffic. The bridge was then opened to pedestrians. The bridge was restored in 2010 to preserve this historic bridge.
