From the San Diego Coast Life web site:

Located near Mission Beach, Bonita Cove is a large park, with a children's playground, a tot lot, fire rings, picnic shelter and tables, barbecue grills, a life guard station, shade trees, and plenty of open space. The park, as it's name implies, includes a sandy beach cove.

For reasons of issuing permits, Bonita Cove is divided into two sections, east and west.

West Bonita Cove:
Permits can be issued for gatherings up to 250 people, with up to two inflatables. West Bonita Cove has access to water, a life guard, fire rings, picnic tables, barbecue grills, a large playground, and a tot lot.

West Bonita Cove:
Permits can be issued for gatherings up to 100 people, with one inflatable. East Bonita Cove has restrooms and a rinse shower.

Extending south from East Bonita Cove is Mariners Point, a large, sandy peninsula, which is good for taking walks, but not swimming. Fishing is a popular pasttime on the east side of Mariners Point.

There is a moratorium on permits for Bonita Cove, from Memorial Day through Labor Day.
