Furness sought to show the owner's personalities in the houses he designed for them. Both Dr. Wister and his wife Annis Lee Furness were lively personalities and desired a house suitable for parties. Sadly, the house was 're-modeled' in the 1930s. The house next door was designed by Furness for J. Gardner Cassatt.
