The Routeburn Track is one of New Zealand's Great Walks.  Bookings are required during peak season (Late October - Late April).  Rates are also higher during the peak season.  During peak season the hut is staffed with a DOC ranger.  The hut is heated and has cooking facilities. This is the first hut from the east (Queenstown) end of the Routeburn Track and is in Mt Aspiring National Park.  The hut is 1.5 - 2 hour (6.5 km) walk from the trailhead.  Further information on the hut is available from the Department of Conservation website.
