Located across the street from the beach in Fort Lauderdale on Route A1A in Alexander Park, this wood-carved sculpture depicts the head of an American Indian with an elongated face and wearing a headdress with two long feathers. This sculpture homors the local Seminole Indians and was completed in May 1983. The work is about 20 feet tall and is set on a short concrete cube about 3 feet high. The piece is unpainted. The artist, Peter Wolf Toth, sculpted many similar works and donated at least one to each US State and Canadian province. Some states have more than one, some have disappeared. The Whispering Giants series is even a separate category in Waymarking.
