An interesting history on the truck: "engine, a Pierce Arrow, which will be referred to as “5392”. He has spent many hours on it’s design and Pierce has flown him back to their plant in Appleton, Wisconsin three times to check on its progress. In January Chief Pond accompanied Captain Olson for a pre-construction meeting to review the engine specifications. Captain Olson went back again in June to check it’s progress, and Engineer Kato accompa-nied him in August for the final inspection before we took delivery in September. Our new Pierce engine replaced our old 1995 Pierce Engine, or “5391”, as our first out engine." (
