Wat Chula Mani—Phitsanulok City, Thailand - Buddhist Temples and Public Shrines on Waymarking.com

This ancient Buddhist temple is located on the eastern bank of the Nan River, a little to the south west of the provincial capital of Phitsanulok.

According to the information signs present on the grounds, the temple was constructed a little before 1464 CE, or 2007 in the Buddhist era, at the command of King Borommatrai. At that time Phitsanulok was part of the Sukhothai Kingdom, which was an early Thai kingdom centred around the city Sukhothai, ~60kms to the west of Phitsanulok City. The Kingdom existed from 1238 until 1438.

The temple consists of several preserved ruins from the Sukhothai era, a number of Buddhist relics, and there is a small, modern Buddhist ordination hall on the site. Apparently, there are also fragments of a previous Khmer era temple.
