The large orientation table is about 3 meters (10 ft) across. This shows the Mount Victoria Vista. The vertical relief is exaggerated by 4 times. The scale is 1" = 1 mile (1:63360). Stand at the south end, near the base of the Firth of Thames. The section on the right with the "Mount Victoria Vista" plaque shows the Coromandel Peninsula. The section on the left shows the Auckland area. A hand and finger in the center left points to Mt Victoria, a shiny point where the patina has be rubbed off. The direction is shown for true and magnetic north.
The small orientation table, about a meter in diameter shows only the immediate area, The Borough of Devonport with a scale of 1" = 100 Yards (1:5000). The vertical relief is exaggerated 12 times.
We were there on a cloudy rainy day. Auckland was barely visible under the low clouds and fog. We still enjoyed visiting Devonport and Mt Victoria.
