Bear Lake is Utah’s second largest freshwater lake – known for its deep turquoise-colored water. It covers 71,000 surface acres; has 48 miles of shoreline (21 miles long and 7 miles wide) and straddles the Utah/Idaho border. Bear Lake is one of Utah’s premier recreation areas, attracting water sports enthusiasts in the summer and ice fishermen and snowmobilers in the winter.
The Great Salt Lake Council founded Camp Bear Lake on the east shore of Bear Lake in the early 1960's. Over the years, the camp has expanded, adding a dining hall, climbing tower and expanded program. Today, the Bear Lake Aquatics Base boasts one of the most comprehensive camp programs in the West.
The Bear Lake Aquatics Base is one of five Great Salt Lake Council Camps specifically focused on Boy Scouts. The Bear Lake provides a premier location for waterfront activities and merit badges.
