When the first love padlocks were installed to the railings of the bridge late 2010 / early 2011, they were not welcome. Authorities were worried that they might rust and consequently leave nasty stains on the railings, and so they had them taken away. But as they kept being replaced, a solution was needed. So two extra gates were installed (one each side of the bridge) to accomodate the padlocks, with signs asking lovers to place them there rather than on the bridge itself. So far, the system seems to work fine and both sides are satisfied.
Coordinates apply to the western bank of the river, where the majority of the padlocks is installed. The corresponding place on the eastern bank is N 51° 18.727 E 009° 30.277.

Als die Mode der Liebesschlösser auch nach Kassel schwappte und Ende 2010 / Anfang 2011 die ersten Exemplare ans Geländer der Drahtbrücke gehängt wurden, waren sie städtischerseits zunächst keineswegs willkommen. Die Behörden befürchteten, rostende Schlösser könnten hässliche Flecken am Brückengeländer hinterlassen, und ließen die metallenen Treueschwüre entfernen. Nachdem diese aber prompt immer wieder ersetzt wurden, musste eine andere Lösung her. So ließ die Stadt schließlich eigens zwei Gitter aufstellen (an jedem Ende der Brücke eines) und montierte Schilder mit der Bitte, Liebesschlösser dort anzubringen - und nicht auf der Brücke selbst. Bislang scheint dieses System zur Zufriedenheit aller zu funktionieren.
Die Koordinaten weisen aufs Westufer der Fulda, wo die Mehrzahl der Schlösser angebracht ist. Das Gegenstück auf dem Ostufer befindet sich bei N 51° 18.727 E 009° 30.277.
