NAMED FOR:

Democrat E. G. "Ted" Waymire was appointed by Governor Lee Knous to fill Kemp's unexpired term [Kemp had been killed in an automobile accident]. Waymire served as county commissioner for twenty-five years until his death in 1971. Very popular in the county and the state, Waymire was respected for probing deeply into issues before making a decision. There are many monuments dedicated to his effort, not the least of which is the Adams County Regional Park near Henderson. The domed Waymire Building at the park is named in his honor and appears on the old Adams County logo." (from Adams County, Colorado, A Centennial History, 1902-2002 by Albin Wagner, pg. 87)
