Villa Vizcaya was built in the 1920s, but was deliberately built in such a way as to look like it was centuries old.
In the water be the mansion is a breakwater built in the form of an old barge, with mermaids and other creatures on the barge and near the waterline.
This is the north end of the barge, with the large winged mermaid forming one of the bows of the barge.
