This sign marks the 45th Parallel, halfway between the Equator and the North Pole. It is about 12 miles south of Salmon, Idaho on US Highway 93.

The coordinates were taken directly beneath the sign but indicate that the sign is about 0.3 miles south of the actual parallel. The same thing happens at state borders that are supposed to be on even parallels of latitude. But for benchmarks the readings are usually very close, so there must be two or more different datums in play here to produce a consistent offset.
