Eine erste urkundliche Erwähnung Niederursels als Mühle und Hofgut erfolgte im Jahre 1132. In Jahre 1437 wird Niederursel durch den königlichen Vogt Henne von Niederursel geteilt und an die Stadt Frankfurt und die Ritter von Kronberg verkauft. 1712 ist Niederursel noch immer geteiltes Dorf und die damaligen Herren des Ortes, Frankfurt und Solms, einigen sich auf die Hauptstraße (heute die Straße Alt-Niederursel) als Trennlinie ihres Herrschaftsbereiches. Im Süden ist für Gesetz und Ordnung Solms zuständig, im Norden die freie Reichsstadt Frankfurt.
Im Jahre 1716 wird das "Frankfurter Rathaus", ein barockes Gebäude mit Zierfachwerk und Sturzbalken, errichtet. In unmittelbarer Nähe wird im Jahre 1718 das "Solms-Rödelheimsche Rathaus", ein barockes Gebäude mit ebenfalls reichhaltigem Zierfachwerk, errichtet.

In the south Solms is responsible for law and order, in the north the Free City of Frankfurt.
In 1716 the "Frankfurter Rathaus" ("Frankfurt city hall"), a baroque building with decorative half-timbering and lintel was built. Very close in 1718, the "Solms-Rödelheimsche Rathaus" ("Solms-Rödelheim city hall") a baroque building with rich ornamental timber too was built.
