This building was built in 1904 by Camille Lauriente, who arrived in Trail at the turn of the century. Lauriente's Clothing Store is said to be the first brick building built in the Trail area. The front steps are made of marble tile.

The grocery building, adjacent on the east side, was of wood frame construction with a brick skin and was built along with the clothing store. Owned and managed by Fred Lauriente, it was the first store to import groceries directly from Europe to Trail. The store is reputed to have had the first plate glass window in Trail. In 1913 a large addition was completed.

The building has hosted several businesses through the years and is presently the home of the local Salvation Army Community Services.
