The Model 60 Allis Chalmers combine, developed in the early 1930s, was known as the "All Crop Combine". Some were PTO driven, and, as not all tractors had PTOs at that time, some were produced with an on board engine, usually a Wisconsin. It had a five foot cutter bar and an eighteen bushel grain bin - about enough for 3 minutes harvesting with today's rotary combines!
The Model 60 was known as the All Crop Combine because, with the addition of rubber cylinder bars and rubber concaves, along with different sieves, about any grain could be harvested. It could combine oats, wheat, rye, barley, timothy, alfalfa, red clover, canola, buckwheat, beans, soy beans, peas, millet, blue grass, milo and probably more. And, of course, it could be converted between using a cutter bar or a pick-up for already swathed crops. All together there were about 250,000 Model 60s sold, indicating that it was a pretty popular machine.
