The sign says this "Minny" was manufactured in 1924, so I'll believe it as the 17-30 was made from 1921 to 1926. The engine had a one piece block and crankcase and was part of the frame. With four cylinders and a bore and stroke of 4 3/4 X 7, this 496 cubic inch engine ticked over at 775 rpm, idle speed for today's tractors. With 2 forward speeds and one reverse this tractor could scream along at about 2.6 mph.

Minneapolis being slightly conservative, Nebraska Tractor Tests rated it at 19 hp at the drawbar and 31 at the belt. The engine was an overhead valve type and when the model was superseded in 1926 by the 17-30A, the major change was an upping of the rpm to 825.

The Minny had a hand operated, over-centre type clutch, a feature which remained on the larger Minneapolis Moline (post merger name - from 1929 on) tractors right up until the end of production, not long after MM's purchase by White Motor Company in 1963.
