Fauquier didn't get its start until the 1960s, when BC Hydro dammed Arrow Lakes, flooding many older communities. When this occurred many people moved their houses to higher ground, more were added, and Fauquier was born. Today, it's still a small dot on the map, but offers gas, food and lodging for the tourist. It's a nice, quiet little town to either stop and stretch your legs, or even poke around and explore a bit.

Fauquier is the point where Highway 6 crosses Upper Arrow Lake by way of the Needles Ferry, which lands on the east side of the lake right at Fauquier.
