Though not on any roadside attractions list (but probably will soon enough be), Salmo's murals are well worth stopping to ponder.
Many towns have jumped on the "murals" bandwagon, but how many have commissioned Stone Murals? To be sure, they're the first ones we've seen in our travels. There are 7 of them strewn around the centre of town. They are very well done murals, each quite an accomplishment given the material used.
The coords should put you in front of "The Gold Panner", right on Highway 6 as it passes through town. It's on the side of the museum, so stop in for a look-see. Five more are within 2 or 3 blocks. (The seventh is near the Erie townsite on Highway 3B just west of Salmo, at the White Line Truck Stop.) It's a small town and they're pretty easy to see. Good excuse to explore the town.
