The compass rose in Augusta, GA, was placed by the Augusta City Council and rests on the Riverwalk Esplanade near the 10th street entrance.

Augusta, GA, home of The Masters Golf Tournament, is Georgia's second-oldest city. Known as the "Garden City" of the South, Augusta sits on the Savannah River and is home to the incomparable Godfather of Soul, James Brown.

Augusta was consolidated with Richmond County in 1996 and is now home to about 200,000 people. So, how is this important to this waymark? There's no more City Council. :)
