Hoover-Cooper Building - Medford Downtown Historic District - Medford, Oregon - NRHP Historic Districts - Contributing Buildings on Waymarking.com

This property was purchased for $250 by Dr. George W. Hoover, a well-known physician from Roseburg, shortly after the founding of Medford. Two years later, after Hoover's death, his widow sold the property to W.G. Cooper, although it is unclear whether it was Hoover or Cooper who actually had this structure built. But by 1890, fire insurance maps noted the foundation was in place. During the 1890s, the structure was occupied by a dry goods and clothing store, and by a hardware company around 1900. Sometime prior to 1927, the Palmer Music House moved in, with a sale of that company leading to a major remodel for the new Palmer Music Center in 1929. In 1964, longtime Medford business Lawrence's Jewelers moved into the building.
