Pivovar, založený hrabetem Janem Josefem Sezimou z Vrtby v roce 1694, byl ve své dobe nejvetším prumyslovým pivovarem v tehdejší Strední Evrope. Za první republiky byla velmi známá svetlá a tmavá výcepní desítka a ctrnáctistupnový tmavý Nuselský prelát (Znak s Prelátem na koni byl nejen na etikete, ale také na velkých lustrech v Nuselské pivovarské restauraci) a další druhy piv, urcené pro vývoz . V roce 1960 byl zmenen na sladovnu a vetšinu budov od té doby obsadily Ceské vinarské závody (nalézá se zde nejvetší sud na víno v Ceské republice). Budovy pivovaru byly rekonstruovány v roce 1876, 1929 a 1935. Od roku 2000 jsou chránenou kulturní památkou.

Brewery, founded by Count John Joseph Sezima of Vrtba in 1694, was in its time the largest industrial brewery in the former Eastern Europe. During the First Republic was well known light and dark draft Ten and 14° dark beer "Nuselský prelat" and other types of beers for export. In 1960 was changed to the malt house and most of the buildings were used by the Czech wineries (found here largest wine barrel in the Czech Republic). The brewery buildings have been renovated in 1876, 1929 and 1935. Since 2000, listed cultural monument.
