Picknelly Field was a gift the the City of Springfield from Peter Picknelly the founder of the Peter Pan Bus Company. This first class facility is the home of the John L. Sullivan Sandlot Leagues. The well maintained field is equipped with dugouts, scoreboards, concession stand, open bleachers and lighting.
John L. Sullivan was Director of Juvenile Activities for Springfield. It this capacity he created the sports leagues for the city's youth. During the 2012 season the following divisions were part of the JLS Sandlot Leagues.

Picknelly Field also hosts the Alfred A. Markham Wooden Bat League, named after the former president of JLS. Now in its 10th season, the recreational league has 10 teams of 14 players. It is purely a fun league that does not keep standings, scores or has playoffs. Teams have a nine-game schedule, with games slated for Mondays-Fridays. It is a mixed league with kids from the A, B and C divisions playing together.
