Beneficiary was the Woodland Hills Baptist Church of Newcastle OK. Logan led a cadre of 19 Scouts and Scouters from Troop 231 in Newcasstle to build a 44" diameter fire pit, surrounded by 8 cedar benches. Many of the folks had camped out the night before in a remote corner of the church property. Early Saturday morning, Logan had the workers divide into 2 teams .. one to build the benches, and one to work on the fire pit. The fire pit team had to dig a circle 70" across, 2 inches deep. They then leveled the area, spread an inch of pea gravel, and set the outside stones. Then the metal fire ring was placed inside the stone enclosure, and the space between the ring and stones was filled with gravel. Then the 12 capstones were installed.
During this time, the bench team had built all the benches.
A short lunch break for pizza, and then work started on leveling the areas for the benches. Once leveled, stakes were driven into the ground, and the bench legs bolted to the stakes.
