This Friendship Arch is located at the site of a joint project between the local conservation authority (Essex Regional Conservation Authority - ERCA) and the The Lions Club of Kingsville. This project includes planting native Carolinian trees and shrubs so users of the Kingsville section of the Chrysler Canada Greenway can learn about the many different species at the Arboretum. The trees where planted in 2004 and 2005.
The project was part of the The Lions Club International goal that all 1.3 million Lions worldwide plant one million trees to enhance the environment.
The Kingsville Lions Club received its charter on May 10, 1933. The official name of the club was changed in July 1947, at which time it was incorporated as The Lions Club of Kingsville.
