Lakin Dam is a concrete gravity dam across the McCloud River which forms a small reservoir. The dam is about a 100 feet long and 10 feet high. The spillway has a drop of about 8 feet. The dam was built and operated by McCloud River Lumber Company and was completed in 1925 to supply a reliable water source for the community of McCloud and the lumber mills there.
