The city of Nong Khai lies on the Thai border with Loas, on the Mekong River. Near the city centre is this wat. The grounds are extensive, and the temple is frequently visited by locals. Of note, the temple houses a small, gold Buddha image, named Luang Pho Phra Sai, that was lost for many centuries, and is the most important Buddhist image in the province. The main building is also noted for its murals, that depict life in the city and the cities dealing with the people and nation of Laos.
I visited during a local ceremony, the grounds were packed with people. I was unable to enter the temple building. Waymark made at the main entrance.
