"The Pearce Building, built in 1940, is a contributing resource in the district because of its association with the commercial development of downtown Salem on the eve of the United States entrance into World War II." -NRHP Nomination Form

This two-story building's dominant feature is the curved corner at the intersection of Liberty and Court streets. Another notable feature is he recessed windows.

The building is named for Helen and Dorothy Pearce, who owned the site and had the building constructed. The Pearce sisters were born and raised in Salem, both graduates of Willamette University. Dorothy was a musician, who studied in Boston and New York and operated a music studio in Salem for many years. Helen studied English, ultimately earning a PhD from U.C. Berkeley, going on to a 35-year career teaching English at Willamette.

Today the Pearce building houses a beauty school.
