Manuel Abad y Lasierra, también conocido como Manuel Abad y la Sierra (n. Estadilla, Huesca el 24 de diciembre de 1729, m. Zaragoza el 12 de enero de 1806) fue un religioso de España. Hijo de Francisco Abad Navarro, de Estadilla, y de María Teresa Lasierra, de Barbuñales.

Estudió en la Universidad de Huesca y fue racionero de la Iglesia de su provincia. Después fue monje Benedictino en el Monasterio de San Juan de la Peña, en el que se dedicó al estudio de la historia y antigüedades; por esto el rey lo autorizó con su Real Cédula de 1 de junio de 1771 para el registro y examen de los Archivos y Bibliotecas de los Monasterios Benedictinos claustrales de su Congregación.

Fue individuo de la Real Academia de la Historia, Prior de Meyá, Dignidad Mitrada del Principado de Cataluña, nombrado Obispo de Ibiza en 1782 y de Astorga en 1787 y electo en abril de 1793 Inquisidor general de España.

Fue Arzobispo de Selimbria, Abad de San Vicente, Dignidad de la Santa Iglesia Metropolitana de Toledo. Uno de sus hermanos también alcanzó la dignidad de Obispo.

En el año 1798 se retiró a su región.

Murió de un accidente que no le dio tiempo más que para recibir el Sacramento de la penitencia, y el 14 de enero su cadáver fue sepultado en el Templo Metropolitano de El Pilar.

Autor de numerosos documentos de archivo histórico impulsados por la ilustración, posiblemente es más recordado por su reforma de la inquisición.

Manuel Abad y Lasierra (1729–1806) was a Spanish bishop and writer who was Grand Inquisitor of Spain from 1793 to 1794.

On July 18, 1783, he was appointed the first ever Bishop of Ibiza, and he was consecrated as a bishop by Francisco Antonio de Lorenzana on August 17, 1783. He was translated to the See of Astorga on September 28, 1787. He was called to Madrid in 1789 to become preceptor of the children of Charles IV of Spain, although this appointment never ultimately occurred. He resigned as Bishop of Astorga on April 9, 1791. He became Titular Archbishop of Selymbria on April 11, 1792. He became Grand Inquisitor of Spain (and thus head of the Spanish Inquisition) in April 1793, but was forced to resign the next year, probably because he attempted to institute reforms to make the Spanish Inquisition less secretive. He became head of the monastery at Sopetrán, Guadalajara in 1794.

He retired to his native Estadilla in 1798. He died in Zaragoza on January 12, 1806, following an accident. He was buried in the Basilica of Our Lady of the Pillar on January 14, 1806.
