The first Girl Scout day camp was organized here in 1922 in Mill Pond Park in Newington, CT. To commemorate this site the Girl Scouts of Newington created a landscaped area at the site with a peace pole and a monument.

The Girl Scouts of Newington put some extra effort into this peace pole. The signage is resin plastic over a wood base. The the pole is about 7' tall and on the cap they identify the language by nation and flag colors:

Italian - Italy
