This pullout along State Highway 149 in Rio Grande National Forest offers a good vantage point to look for moose as well as several information signs. The signs tell about moose behavior, recognizing a moose and moose transport. Between 1991 and 1993, 100 moose were relocated by helicopter from northern Colorado and southern Wyoming to the Creede Ranger District. Some of the moose were radio tagged to monitor movement. A caption on the sign states, "Approximately 240 miles as crows fly, moose flew."
