Designed by Canadian C. S. McNally, who came to Salem in the late 1880s and designed many other buildings, the facade is reportedly duplicated by Philadelphia's First National Bank of the Republic, designed by nationally prominent architect Frank Furness in 1884. The building is three-stories but just 23-feet wide, featuring a prominent turreted stair tower with a conical, copper roof. Note the "CNB" logo incorporated to the left of the tower.
