From doing some research on Billy Boone, all I could find was an online article that mentions Billy Boone as a member of the American Legion and a publicity chairman in Crescent City. He was also the main organizer for the Fourth of July celebrations that were (are) always held on Front Street and have been for 150-plus years. It makes sense then, that this marker was dedicated in his honor on the Fourth of July.
