The Rio Grande is the third longest river in the United States, winding 1,885 miles from Colorado to Texas and Mexico. The river begins as snow melt on the north slopes of Rio Grande Pyramid over 13,000 feet above its outlet into the Gulf of Mexico.
Points visible from this overlook include Brown Lakes, Minnie Mountain, Weminuche Pass, Rio Grande Pyramid and Ute Ridge.
