The Boeing 720B was the "sports car" version of the more staid B707. It had a shorter fuselage, better brakes and higher powered engines which could allow it to use shorter, more elementary airfields around the world.

This aircraft started life in 1961 with American Airlines. It flew throughout the world in passenger service for 13 years before being sold to Middle East Airlines, based in Beirut, Lebanon. The aircraft served with Middle East until 1984, when purchased by P&W as an engine test bed. She was nicknamed "Pinocchio" because of the elongated nose that housed radar and other instruments.
The aircraft was retired in 2010 and offered to museums. There were many interested, but only 2 wanted the complete aircraft - Trenton, and the National Aeronautical Collection in Ottawa. P & W opted for Ottawa, but the runway is too short for a landing. The solution was to give the aircraft to Ottawa, who have in turn permanently "loaned" Pinocchio to Trenton.
