In Foxborough, in back of the Bass Pro Shop within Patriot Place, is 'The Nature Trail and Cranberry Bog,' a nature walk through wetland and cranberry bogs with signs that can be read along the way.

To get to the bog, go to the Pro Bass Shop at the southern end of Patriot Place, then follow the signs around the southern side of the store to the parking lot to the bog. From there, follow the signs to the bog.

The signs are located all along the path to and along the bog, starting at the parking lot. The signs vary in content. At the bottom of a few trail switchbacks, is a sign that welcomes you to the bog. It shows a simple map of the pond and bogs and trail, with an introductory paragraph. To the left, the path goes to a boardwalk. After the boardwalk, you walk on a wood-chip path with the bogs on your left and the pond on the right. The next flora sign describes the cranberry and its nutritional benefits that bordered on a commercial for the berry. The next sign is about cultivating the cranberry, which has a picture of the flower, which suggests the image of a crane head-hence the name 'craneberry'-now 'cranberry.' The next pair of signs compare 'dry' and 'wet' harvesting methods. The final sign describes area wildlife, including animals, birds, turtles, and vernal pool habitats.

This is a great place to unwind after shopping!
