Teddy Roosevelt's Legacy - The Kaibab National Forest
Ranchers, lumbermen, entrepreneurs and homesteaders all came to the Kaibab Plateau with dreams of success because of the Plateau's natural resources. Teddy Roosevelt also came to Kaibab to hunt deer and mountain lions. It was during those expeditions that Roosevelt was so inspired by the beauty of the area and the abundance of wildlife that he declared the Kaibab Plateau a "National Game Preserve."
Then, as now, the Kaibab Plateau's natural resources support multiple uses including harvest of thriving wildlife populations. The Kaibab National Forest is one of Teddy's legacies to the American People.
