The records indicate that on January 21, 1856. Evan and Eliza Townsend and Andrew and Lucy Ann Mack sold a plot of land to the School District Number Two also known as the Evanswood School District for $15.00. Late in the 1800’s the name of the school was changed to Evanswood School.

On August 29, 1902 a special meeting was called by the Evanswood School Board for approval of a 24’X26’ addition with a 10’X10’ entry to the existing Building. The proposal was approved and the addition was built. That is what that large flat roofed addition is in front of the school building.

In 1909 the electors approved a new first class heating and ventilation plant with new chimney. Voters also approved a shingling bee to repair the roof. I have never heard of a shingling bee but I think the men get together and shingle the roof, like the ladies get together and have a knitting bee.

In 1944 the electors approved closing the Evanswood School and on August 13, 1945 they rescinded that action. The school district closed the school in 1961. In 1982 the school was sold and since has been remodeled into a garage.
