Olhão was an industrialized city in the early 20th Century, at least to the standards of the time. Not so many factories around anymore, but still some remnants of the good old industrial times can be observed.
This chimney is a good example. There are some ruins around, probably of buildings which used to be part of the same factory. I would say they were related with fish processing, as it was usual by then.
