Most of the one-room schoolhouses which were built in Portugal during the 50's and the 60's were shut down on account of not enough kids in the countryside anymore. But some are still operating and this one is a perfect example. Located in the heart of the village of São Barnabé, the primary school is active and daily filled with the joyful voices of local kids.
The indoors pictures I took don't reflect the daily reality of the school as they were taken in a festival day, when the school was used for conferences and other activities.
