This sculpture features a grasshopper mounted in a head-down position on an exterior brick wall in downtown Salem. Because it is on the alley side of the building, it's easy to miss if you're zooming by in a vehicle. The material used is brazed copper and it measures approximately 5 feet long by 2 1/2 feet by 2 feet. At first I thought this might be a cricket, due to the black color, but no, it truly is a grasshopper. It is similar in presentation to the same artist's fly sculpture, located two blocks south.
