These two orientation tables are separated by just a few feet, both explain the view from Point Imperial overlook at Grand Canyon. One explains the view from the northeast, the other from the southeast.
The text on the signs read:
"Souteast View You are Here
Marbel Platform, Mouth of Little Colorado River, Painted Desert, Mt. Hayden, Coconino Rim, Cedar Mountain (Distance 19 miles). O'Leary Peak, Humphryes Peak (distance 67 miles, elevation 12,633 ft), Kendrick Peak.
This is an unusual view of an unusual part of Grand Canyon. The opposite canyon wall drops abruptly to the Colorado River; hte rim there is merely 3/4 mile from the river. Here on the North Rim you are 10 miles from the Colorado River. This creates a canyon profile found nowehere else in Grand Canyon.
Northeast View You are Here
Vermillian Cliffs, Marble Platform, Lees Ferry,
Marble Canyon, Henry Mountain (distance 133 miles), Saddle Mountain, Echo Clifs
From this, the highest viewpoint on the North Rim, one has an unparalleled view of the upper reaches of Grand Canyon known as Marble Canyon. Lees Ferry, not quite visible on the horizon, lies approximately where the Vermilion Cliffs (on the left) and the Echo Cliffs (on the right) meet. The Kaibab Limestone forms the surface of Marble Platform, thousands of feet below. This same rock forms the surface of the Kaibab Plateau on which you are standing, convincing evidence of the uplift that has occurred here."
