Ely is a vacationland in any season, and this Chamber of Commerce/Tourist Information Center has information to cover all kinds of attractions and activities. The town is known as the “canoe and fishing destination” in the summer and the dog-sledding capital in the winter. Whether staying at one of the numerous resorts in the area or pitching a tent in a wilderness campsite, visitors have a wide array of things to do.
The log cabin housing the Welcome Center was built in 1938 by Finnish lumberjacks. Originally located on Basswood Lake, the cabin was moved to its present location in 1976.
