This listing features the bust of the British Naval Sea Captain, Sir Francis Drake, Hero, but not so famous in Great Britain as a Pirate. Located on the front of the Grade-II listed, Old Royal Naval College - Pepys building, in Greenwich, London, Great Britain.

Although he brought back the equivalent of millions, the Queen could not openly sanction the work of the one she called, 'my pirate' after a peace treaty was signed with Spain. The man the Spanish would call, 'The Dragon'. Text Source: (visit link)

"His exploits were legendary, making him a hero to the British but a pirate to the Spaniards to whom he was known as El Draque, Draque being the Spanish pronunciation of "Drake". His name in Latinised form was Franciscus Draco (Francis the Dragon). King Philip II was said to have offered a reward of 20,000 ducats, about £4 million (US$6.5M) by modern standards, for his life."
