The cemetery and nearby Baptist Church of the same name are all that are left of what was once the Shoals Community.
One of the oldest graves dates to 1903, a girl who died just a week or so before her tenth birthday. The cemetery is still in use and, although rustic, is in fairly good shape. The oldest headstones, however, are starting to fall apart or are so weathered that they are illegible.
